Oakland International Airport (OAK) served 13.3 million passengers in 2019 and is the third-largest international airport in the Bay Area behind San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC).

Final Thoughts
OAK’s Terminal 1 underwent a $100 million renovation that was completed in 2017, and there are hopes for further expansion in the future, In 2021, the airport began an environmental review for a proposed new terminal.
In 2019 and 2020 the airport lost several international and domestic routes. However, passenger traffic for 2023 is on track for pre-pandemic levels, so, hopefully, we’ll see more flights being added in the coming months.
