Since Butters is our first dog – our first baby – we’ve been completely spoiling him. We hold him in our arms, we give him treats for being cute, and we try to get in as many snuggles as possible. I also went shopping on etsy.com for the most adorable, customized bandana to put on his collar, and to my surprise, he posed so beautifully for the camera.

But then 30 seconds later, this happened.

Yeah, I don’t think he liked it very much. At least I got one good shot of him, right?

But once we got that bandana off, Jason and I sipped on this incredibly refreshing sweet and tangy, bubbly lemonade. It was the absolute perfect spring afternoon, guzzling this down in sunny 70 degree weather, with the puppy sitting right beside us.

  • Add strawberries to the bowl of a food processor and process until smooth, about 1-2 minutes; strain through a cheesecloth or fine sieve.

  • In a large pitcher, whisk together strawberry puree, lemon juice and simple syrup. Place in the refrigerator until chilled.

The dog is so cute and the actual drink is better. I would recommend this, but make sure you have extra strawberries because I had a pound but what I didn’t have was the extra strawberries it asks for. Totally recommend! I have to kids Jaylen and Cole. Cole is a picky eater /drinker so this was totally the bomb! Awesome for parties, gatherings, and especially dinners as a family! 4 1/2 stars!

Look delicious! Is it okay if I mix the mixture with sparkling water in a party pitcher with ice and leave out on a counter for several hours?

Delicious! I used 3 strawberries since that was all I had and water in place of sparkling water. Tastes amazing! Will make again! I love all your recipes, haven’t tried one I didn’t like yet! This is the first one I didn’t follow 100%, so I can’t wait to try when I have all the ingredients.

How long could you keep the strawberry/lemon solution in the fridge (without the soda)?

    • Chungah May 2, 2017 @ 6:01 AM Reply

About a few hours, but as always, please use your best judgment.

  5. Maggie May 13, 2016 @ 8:54 AM Reply

What garnish is pictured? Is that mint?

    • Chungah May 14, 2016 @ 6:44 AM Reply

      Yes.

  6. Sue April 28, 2016 @ 1:53 PM Reply

If I kept the mixture separate from the sparkling water to make it a day ahead, will the mixture be okay sitting on the counter or should it be refrigerated?

    • Chungah April 30, 2016 @ 3:01 PM Reply

I recommend refrigerating, but as always, please use your best judgment.

    Hi Chung,

I want to make this for some friends and was wondering whats the ratio for the strawberry mixture and sparkling water in a glass when serving … 1/2 mixture : 1/2 sparkling water ?

    thank you ^___^

    • Chung-Ah June 10, 2014 @ 10:52 PM Reply

Natasha, it’s really 1:4 or 1:3 mixture to sparkling water. I recommend adjusting to taste.

Okay, this drink sounds insanely delicious… BUT THAT PUPPY IS JUST TOO CUTE. I feel like a complete stalker hitting “like” on every single photo you post of him on facebook, but I just can’t help it. In other news, I think I need to make some strawberry lemonade, with a splash of rum in it to help me get over the fact that I will probably never get to pet his furry little head. Gah! The cute!

        Hi Chung!

Your lemonade looks delicious. I’m going to make tomorrow. Is this drink ok to make night before or will bubbles be lost?

        • Chungah April 23, 2016 @ 9:16 AM Reply

Yes, absolutely! Just be sure to reserve the sparkling water until right before serving.

  32. Jules @ WolfItDown April 8, 2014 @ 1:15 AM Reply

This sounds great! I too don’t like when something is too sweet, especially not drinks, it needa bit of zing, and if there are bubbles – even better! Thanks for sharing the recipe 😀 x
