This week, we partnered with TSMC and our trade partners on the site and hosted a "Forgotten Angel" Toy Drive and collected more than 800 toys! The Forgotten Angel program through the The Salvation Army, works to ensure any children who do not have a Christmas Angel tag returned still receive toys for the holiday. A huge shout out to TSMC and our trade partners for helping to provide kids in need with presents during this holiday season!#Okland #holidayseason #TSMC #givingback #construction

Where does the dirt end up? In the edges. That's why I intentionally scrub the edges! Encapsulation shampoo separates the dirt from inside the carpet fibers. FROM PLAYGROUNDS TO PARADE GROUNDS: RUSSIAN SCHOOLS ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY MILITARIZEDRussia’s playgrounds are becoming parade grounds. Atschoolsfrom the Pacific to the Black Sea, children in nursery grade don uniforms and take part in marching practice. Older kids are being taught how to dig trenches, throw grenades and shoot with real ammunition. In schools across the country, service in the armed forces is being glorified, “voluntary companies” of teenagers are being formed and the national curriculum is being changed to emphasize defense of the motherland. In short, Russia’s children are being prepared for war.>>Read more https://lnkd.in/djrzfzxf

The Army's recruiting strategy may need to look much deeper. We should be facilitating a hardening of the American Fighting Spirit. We to need to physically and mentally prepare our youth for the possibility they could be called on to fight for our freedom in very challenging environments. We need to help schools and families toughen American children. All the fancy weapons of 2040 don't matter if we don't have people willing to fight.A couple things this might mean: Tough physical education, and testing, in schools. Outreach to individuals based on a history of doing hard things: migrant farmers, construction workers, varsity athletes and the likeWhat I have few ideas on is, how do we toughen up kids that are poorly parented and prepare them for hard things?

There’s an invisible funding gap for military families. If you're a military spouse, you know it well. When my husband was selected for command, the Navy paid for me to attend training in Newport, RI and San Diego, CA. It felt like a big deal, but they kept reiterating that "this is voluntary." At the end of one of the weeks I asked "If this is voluntary, and we don't fill this role, who will?"Their answer? Families will go without or another spouse will step up.The military is reliant on the unpaid labor of spouses. They give their time, energy, and effort in service of other families. I'm not complaining. Honestly, I've been happy to do that for nearly twenty years. But it's expensive to pay for childcare so you can attend meetings, to fund social events out of pocket, to host gatherings in your home, to make meals for other families. When social support for military families relies on volunteer time and personal funding from military spouses, you're going to see gaps in support across rank and command. And this impacts retention. Unhappy families will leave a volunteer force.Perhaps as more military spouses find work inside and outside the home, thanks to recent policy efforts and advocacy, they won't "need" the same level of support. But for the young families living far from home, juggling babies and deployments and unpredictable schedules, there's no substitute for human connection. And that just isn't funded.Click through to read about how The Ready Room Project came alongside a group of spouses across four squadrons, representing a cross section of rank, to help chip away at that gap and fund an event for hundreds of military kids. It's not a solution, but it's a start.https://lnkd.in/gxJP4jg5#militaryfamilies #militaryspouses
