Perry prepares for NFL Draft
Updated: Apr. 15, 2025 at 9:43 PM EDT
MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Thomas Perry made his work for four years in the trenches on Middlebury turf. After impressing scouts at the East-West Shrine Bowl and at UConn’s pro day in his home state, he’s now got his eyes set to the bright lights of the NFL Draft and beyond.“It was definitely cool seeing the guys’ helmets like, ‘Oh I’ve seen these people play on TV,” Perry said.Perry was the sole Division 3 football player at the Shrine Bowl back in January. But coming back to campus after the big stage, he just wants to keep playing.“I feel like when I go to the dining hall and get my three glasses of milk, people are already looking me a little funny. I don’t really notice too much of a difference,” he said.An All-American in his senior season, Perry says NFL scouts were impressed with his speed and strength in the trenches. But they’ve also been giving him some tips to work on as he continues training with his trainer this spring.“Being able to be completely 100% sound with technique, that’s what I’ve been working and focusing on with Coach Duke,” Perry said. He says he didn’t step on the field until middle school and didn’t take snaps at center until just before the bowl game. Perry hopes a team will take note of his game, but it doesn’t matter to him where he ends up playing professionally.“I’d play anywhere,” he said. “I actually don’t have a favorite team, which is kind of bizarre. I always find myself rooting for the offense whenever I’m watching, or when I watch with my friends, I’ll root for whatever team theyre rooting for.”Perry could be a day three pick in the later rounds of the NFL Draft next week. He said he still has to figure out his plans for where he’ll watch to see if his name gets called.
